Bonnie Brae

The Bonnie Brae neighborhood located just east of Washington Park and south of Cherry Creek is know for its winding, tree lined streets, a departure from the grid system that characterized most of Denver's streets.

Loose boundaries of this neighborhood are University Boulevard on the West to Steele Street on the East, and from Exposition on the North to E Mississippi Avenue on the South, dissected by the lovely Bonnie Brae Boulevard which runs diagonally just about right through the middle of it all. Bonnie Brae and it's centerpiece, Ellipse Park, were designed by noted landscape architect Saco DeBoer.

Traditional notions exemplified by Victorian and Neoclassic homes were rejected in favor of Art Moderne, International Style and Tudor residences.  When world war two ended, housing construction boomed and most of the homes east of the park were built. To this day, Bonnie Brae is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Denver.

A great attribute to the area is the Bonnie Brae strip of local businesses lining University Boulevard between Exposition Avenue and Ohio Avenue. The eclectic mix of neighbors enjoy great dining, some of the best pizza and burgers in town, fine floral, wine and ice cream selections.  Be they college kids from DU, park lovers after a jog around Washington Park, local business executives from Downtown and Cherry Creek, or your basic millionaire next door, Bonnie Brae offers something for everyone to enjoy! ?Bonnie Brae, Gallic for "Pleasant Hill".  Ffor the many long standing businesses and loyal patrons that enjoy them, residents fortunate enough to enjoy this neighborhood as their home, and commuters who can't help but stop and indulge in this truly charming neighborhood, the name has stood the test of time.
