Belcaro

Belcao Park just east of the Bonnie Brae neighborhood is one of Denver's most beautiful and sought after areas due to it's proximity to Cherry Creek North, Washington Park, and all amenities one could need within walking distance. The Phipp's Mansion is Belcaro's landmark property.  It is a Georgian mansion that was built by U.S. Senator and Mrs. Lawrence Phipps. The residence is  33,123 square feet and sits on 6.5 acres, and the property boasts a fantastic tennis pavilion that has been used as an events center, but is once again a private home. The tennis pavilion is purported to be the very first indoor tennis facility built west of the Mississippi River and was completed in 1932.

In the mid forties, Garrett-Bromfied developed what is now the Belcaro Park neighborhood. At the time the plan provided for expansive yards with a  mountain views. Currently there is a mix of late forties to mid fifties ranches along with new homes which have replaced some of the original homes. In order to preserve this unique and special place, subdividing the unusually large lots is prohibited.  The lush and mature landscaping, gardens and trees in Belcaro certainly create appealing street scapes and offer home owners privacy and enjoyment.

The common boundaries of Belcaro are Exposition on the North to Mississippi on the South, Steele Street on the West and Colorado Boulevard on the East.
